LATELY MY LOVE LIFE HAS CHANGED

Lately my love life has changed
From imagining conversations with women who have rejected me
To imagining conversations with women who love me
I suppose it’s a step forward
Toward what is unknown
But what is known better are the ways of love
The eyes that shine rather than darken
The hands that open rather than close
The inadvertent touch, its involuntary grace
Carrying the weightless burden of meaning
Rather than the cold curling of withdrawal
Of course it is lacking in degrees of reality
These gratuitous imaginings
Some would say I remain alone
That my love lacks substance, though
In the end what is had is had
And the universe is generous in its diversions
My love life has changed
Though it is known by me alone
And the silent unreachable choir
